The House of GM&Ahrens is the work of Gerrit Maritz and Albert Ahrens, two friends who set out to make Cap Classique the traditional way and refused to rush it.
The base is the classic Champagne pairing of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, hand-picked from sourced pockets across the Winelands and aged long on the lees — years, not months. The house style is bone-dry, extra-brut: fine mousse, restraint, no shortcuts.
Production is tiny — around ten thousand bottles a vintage — and each new release is unveiled at the house’s celebrated Spring Day bubbly breakfast.
